The Founder of the BE11A JS Foundation had the unexpected pleasure of meeting the Prime Minister during his recent visit to Grenada, West Indies. Following a chance conversation with the concierge in the hotel where the Founder was staying, it transpired that Dickon Mitchell was dining in the bar of the same hotel. Introductions were duly made, and it was quickly apparent that the PM was indeed aware of the Founder's family lineage and was delighted to make his acquaintance.
The conversation flowed and touched on numerous topics centred around Dickon's vision for the socio-economic future of the island. Youthful and energetic in outlook, he reaffirmed his desire to modernise the cultural perceptions of the island and embrace contemporary thinking with regard to LGBT+ rights, diversifying the economy and maximising the potential of the Grenada diaspora around the world. Prosaically, Grenadians moving back to the island to retire is welcomed, but a more tangible contribution is being encouraged going forward.
The Founder outlined the vision of the BE11A JS Foundation and explained in more detail the aims of the Bel Air Home for Children & Adolescence project. Needless to say, the initiative was greeted with considerable appreciation, and both parties pledged to keep in touch as the project develops. The PM's charisma and enthusiasm are contributing to positioning the island as a thoroughly progressive country on the world stage and transforming Grenada's reputation on the world stage.
