The BE11A JS Foundation has pledged a four-figure contribution to help the Read Foundation provide much-needed humanitarian aid following the flood disaster that has wreaked havoc on the country since June 2022. Almost a tripling of national rainfall fell on the country, causing widespread flooding, which affected more than 33 million people.
As the organisation was actually founded in Pakistan, the Read Foundation simply had to respond to the flood crisis in June, which affected 116 districts, of which 66 were declared “calamity hit”. Over a thousand people have lost their lives, and more than 33 million have been affected, displaced or lost their homes or livelihoods. The adverse weather conditions have also had a significant impact on the country’s infrastructure, in addition to destroying two million acres of crops and orchards.
The endeavours of the Read Foundation have helped provide food and hygiene packs, temporary shelter and learning centres, plus essential food and water for thousands of those affected. The donation from the BE11A JS Foundation has contributed directly to the purchase and distribution of these vital supplies.
